Manchester City have rejected Barcelona\u2019s second bid of around \u20ac60m (\u00a351m)<\/a> for Rodri, while Chelsea have set a 5pm (BST) Friday deadline for the club to bid \u00a3120m for the midfielder\u2019s potential replacement, Enzo Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday Bar\u00e7a improved on their initial offer of \u20ac45m<\/a> but this has been turned down. City, it is thought, want between \u00a360m and \u00a365m for Rodri, who captained Spain to victory at the World Cup and is a former Ballon d\u2019Or winner.<\/p>\n

As the 30-year has expressed a preference for Bar\u00e7a, City accept it is all but inevitable he will head to the Camp Nou so Fern\u00e1ndez has been identified to take his place in Enzo Maresca\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n

As Chelsea\u2019s captain and a World Cup winner at Qatar 2022, Fern\u00e1ndez would add seniority and leadership. However Chelsea\u2019s stance is that as City and other suitors have already had two months of the transfer window to firm up interest in Fern\u00e1ndez, if the \u00a3120m valuation is not met by an official bid for this sum by 5pm on Friday, the 25-year-old will remain their player.<\/p>\n

To generate some of the finance required Tijjani Reijnders may be sold to Al-Qadsiah. A deal has been agreed between City and the Saudi Arabian club for a package worth around \u20ac60m for the 28-year-old Dutchman who joined last summer. It is understood that Reijnders has agreed personal terms.<\/p>\n

J\u00e9r\u00e9my Doku has signed a contract extension that will keep him at City until 2031. The 24-year-old winger said: \u201cWith Enzo [Maresca] here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that\u2019s exciting for the players.<\/p>\n

Tottenham retain an interest in Savinho, with Maresca prepared to sell the winger if a replacement can be found.
