{"id":585306,"date":"2026-08-15T07:42:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-15T07:42:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/585306\/"},"modified":"2026-08-15T07:42:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-15T07:42:12","slug":"disney-teases-lilo-stitch-2-featuring-pink-counterpart-angel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/585306\/","title":{"rendered":"Disney Teases Lilo &#038; Stitch 2, Featuring Pink Counterpart Angel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLast year the live-action adaptation of Lilo &amp; Stitch proved to be a box office smash, and now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/disney-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_disney-2_1\" data-tag=\"disney-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Disney<\/a> is giving the first look at the follow-up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAt the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/d23\/\" id=\"auto-tag_d23_1\" data-tag=\"d23\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">D23<\/a> fan event on Friday, the studio showed off a teaser from the upcoming film, revealing the addition of Stitch\u2019s pink counterpart Angel. Also known as Experiment 624, Angel is another intergalactic alien who becomes Stitch\u2019s love interest and was first introduced in Lilo &amp; Stitch: The Series. \u201cWait, there\u2019s two of them?!\u201d Maia Kealoha, who starred as Lilo in the live-action movie, joked on stage as Angel\u2019s antennae were shown.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLilo &amp; Stitch 2 was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/lilo-and-stitch-2-live-action-movie-sequel-1236300074\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">put into development<\/a> just a few weeks after the release of the first film, which went on to earn over $1 billion dollars at the box office, $423.7 million of that domestically. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/lilo-and-stitch-2-to-be-directed-co-creator-chris-sanders-1236620450\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Sanders<\/a>, who co-created, co-wrote and co-directed the original\u00a0Lilo &amp; Stitch\u00a0animated movie \u2014 as well as voiced the character of Stitch in both animated and live-action form \u2014 will direct the sequel, with Jonathan Eirich, who produced the initial live-action remake, back as producer via Rideback. The company\u2019s Ryan Halprin is exec producing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe story of the previous flim \u2014 a retelling of the beloved 2002 animated version \u2014\u00a0centers on a lonely girl who befriends a blue puppy, who she soon discovers is actually an escaped alien engineered to be a weapon of mass destruction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe follow-up will be a brand-new story and is set to open in cinemas May 26, 2028, the beginning of the long Memorial Day weekend \u2014 following the same release pattern that the studio used in 2025. Alongside Sanders\u2019 Stitch, the first film also starred Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham and Courtney B.
