\u201cI\u2019m not the most athletic in the field, but I always try my hardest, and I\u2019ll always try and throw myself at everything, albeit it\u2019s never \u00adglamorous,\u201d Adams said of the catch. \u201cIt was pretty surreal. I had this sense that she was going to ramp. I thought if I see her go for it, I\u2019m just going to charge, and thankfully stuck a hand out and it stuck in.\u201d<\/p>\n
The slingy Phillips followed up that huge scalp by rattling the stumps of Deepti Sharma, while Adams had Player of the Tournament Sutherland stumped coming down the track and then pulled off a diving stop at cover in the next set which ensured the run out of Jonassen for a duck, leaving Sunrisers reeling at 58 for six.<\/p>\n
Skipper Dani Gibson attempted to bail them out of trouble with a flurry of boundaries, but when her \u00adupper-cut failed to clear backward point the rest of her team collapsed in a heap underneath her.<\/p>\n
Gibson admitted afterwards that her team had fallen significantly short with the bat. \u201cI just don\u2019t think we played great,\u201d she said. \u201cNot our best game at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sunrisers had been described in some quarters as the reigning \u00adchampions. Whether this is \u00adaccurate for a team which has a) changed its name, b) changed its kit and c) retained only four players from 2025 is an open question. Gibson, one of the majority who made her way to Sunrisers from a different franchise last year, dismissed the suggestion that 2025\u2019s triumph had any role to play here. \u201cIt\u2019s a completely new playing 15, and new coaches for us. We just wanted to focus on this \u00adseason,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
