{"id":587582,"date":"2026-08-17T16:54:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T16:54:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/587582\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T16:54:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T16:54:09","slug":"israeli-child-killed-after-suspected-beit-shemesh-stabbing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/587582\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli child killed after suspected Beit Shemesh stabbing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A seven-year-old Israeli child was killed, and his four-year-old cousin was moderately injured in a suspected <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/article-904185\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">stabbing<\/a> at a home in Beit Shemesh on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Paramedics found the children suffering from stab wounds in the family&#8217;s pool after emergency services received a report of the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Israeli media reports indicated the children were allegedly attacked by a mentally unstable individual who reportedly entered the home and assaulted them after the mother of one of the children left the home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">According to Magen David Adom (MDA), two children were rushed to Hadassah-University Medical Center in Jerusalem\u2019s Ein Kerem for further treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The four-year-old reportedly arrived at the hospital in moderate condition, fully conscious, and is currently undergoing surgery, the seven-year-old, however, was pronounced dead upon arrival at Hadassah\u2019s trauma center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/israel-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Israeli Police<\/a> later released a statement that they had opened an official investigation into the attack, and added that a suspect had been arrested following the assault.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"822\" height=\"537\" style=\"max-width: 758px;\" src=\"https:\/\/images.jpost.com\/image\/upload\/f_auto,fl_lossy\/c_fill,g_faces:center,h_537,w_822\/734293\" alt=\"Police and security forces at the scene where two children were stabbed by a man in Beit Shemesh, August 17, 2026 (credit: OREN BEN HAKOON\/FLASH90)\" title=\"Police and security forces at the scene where two children were stabbed by a man in Beit Shemesh, August 17, 2026 (credit: OREN BEN HAKOON\/FLASH90)\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">MDA paramedic, Yosef Haim Bernfeld, described the scene as horrifying, saying, \u201cWe were led to two children who had suffered serious injuries to their bodies, including seven-year-old boy who was unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing, and a four-year-old boy who was conscious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">At the time of the incident, a 15-year-old relative was reportedly responsible for supervising the children at home, as their mother was not present.<\/p>\n<p>The 15-year-old is now receiving assistance at the scene from a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/health-and-wellness\/parenting\/article-889590\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">social worker.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">No further details on the incident have been provided at this stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In a separate incident in Beit Shemesh on Monday, a 4-year-old boy was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">MDA paramedics who arrived at the scene stated they found the boy unconscious and suffering from multiple serious injuries.
