Fuse Games CEO and co-founder Matt Webster has told VGC that Star Wars Galactic Racer \u201chas to be accurate\u201d to the in-game timeline, adding \u201cwho knows\u201d when asked if Anakin Skywalker will ever appear in the game.<\/p>\n
In the full interview \u2013 which can be watched below \u2013 Webster explains that, because the game is set in the post-original-trilogy era of Star Wars, the only characters who appear in the single-player and arcade portions of the game are canonically alive at the time of the story.<\/p>\n
When asked if Anakin would ever appear in the game, Webster said: \u201cThe thing there is, we need to be accurate, but that\u2019s okay when you have experts.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t recreate the Boonta Eve Classic as it appeared in Episode 1, because the outcome of that race is decided,\u201d Webster said. \u201cBut there\u2019s other ways we can use those inspirations and those moments in creative and interesting ways.\u201d<\/p>\n
When we pushed back and specifically asked about Anakin, Webster smiled and replied: \u201cWho knows where things will take us. You\u2019ve seen the characters that are available to you right now. What is true is that launch will be a moment, and we\u2019re keen to bring new things to the game post-launch.\u201d<\/p>\n
Today we also published new multiplayer footage of the upcoming racer, which can be watched below. The multiplayer portion of the game sees players competing over a series of heats. After each race, players can upgrade their ship to improve their position in the next race. The series concludes with a finale in which every racer\u2019s then-fully upgraded crafts battle it out for supremacy.<\/p>\n
Star Wars: Galactic Racer<\/a> will be released on October 6.
