Nick Raskulinecz, the Grammy Award-winning producer of iconic albums by FOO FIGHTERS, DEFTONES, KORN, EVANESCENCE and more, has launched Hiss Recordings, a singles-focused label that highlights Raskulinecz’s latest discoveries and brings their music to a wider audience, one pair of songs at a time.<\/p>\n
The first new artist to emerge from Hiss Recordings is DOOM MUTUAL, a Nashville-based duo featuring Daphne Browdy and David Gestiehr. Released as a two-song digital single (“Static Planet”\/”Crowbar”),the “Static Planet” video debuted this morning via Revolver in tandem with an interview with Raskulinecz.<\/p>\n
Speaking with Revolver, Raskulinecz discusses his plans for the label and the reason he picked DOOM MUTUAL. “They have a really cool sound that needs to be heard,” he says. “I think people will really dig what they are about. Super creative and they have a great sound that’s different from what’s happening now.”<\/p>\n
About the track, DOOM MUTUAL said: “‘Static Planet’ captures the feeling of watching your life happen through a layer of interference. It’s about searching for connection in a world that feels distant and artificial. We wanted the music to feel like a blanket of sound \u2014 massive and overwhelming \u2014 like trying to find a signal through endless noise.”<\/p>\n
Nashville-based producer and engineer Nick Raskulinecz’s career began in Knoxville, Tennessee. After moving to Los Angeles in 1995, he landed a runner gig with famed Van Nuys, California studio Sound City. Raskulinecz has since relocated to Nashville where he now runs his studio.<\/p>\n
