{"id":591437,"date":"2026-08-21T09:56:27","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T09:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/591437\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T09:56:27","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T09:56:27","slug":"patient-at-upmc-childrens-hospital-tests-positive-for-measles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/591437\/","title":{"rendered":"Patient at UPMC Children\u2019s Hospital tests positive for measles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 A case of measles has reached the Pittsburgh area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">According to the Allegheny County Health Department, a person who visited the UPMC Children\u2019s Hospital emergency department on Aug. 12 and 18 has tested positive for measles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The person is not from Allegheny County and is currently in isolation, health officials say. UPMC will call patients who were exposed during those two days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A UPMC spokesperson says everyone exposed to the \u201cunvaccinated patient\u201d at Children\u2019s Hospital has been identified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">There is \u201cno ongoing risk\u201d of contracting measles at Children\u2019s Hospital because of this patient, the spokesperson says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">ACHD tells anyone who was in the exposure area and hasn\u2019t had two doses of the Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine to call their health care provider.
