Gianni Infantino told a reporter \u201cI\u2019ll see you at the hairdressers\u201d after he was asked whether he had betrayed football over his aborted World Cup sell-off plan.<\/p>\n

The Fifa president was stopped outside a hotel in the Dominican Republic<\/a> by the Sky News US correspondent, James Matthews, who challenged the under-fire leader of football\u2019s governing body over why he had not resigned, despite calls from across the game for him to step down<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last week, three continental confederations accused the president <\/a>of \u201cdeception\u201d over his plans to secure private investment in Fifa tournaments, while the European governing body Uefa has threatened a boycott of Fifa competitions having \u201clost confidence\u201d in his leadership.<\/p>\n

Having tracked Infantino to a hotel in the Caribbean country, Matthews, who shares Infantino\u2019s recognisable bald pate, asked the 56-year-old whether he had \u201cbetrayed the game of football\u201d, to which came the reply: \u201cYou have a nice haircut. Thank you so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the president walked away, Matthews continued: \u201cWhy won\u2019t you resign? Fans, Fifa<\/a> associations want you to step down. Why won\u2019t you? Have you betrayed the trust of Fifa?\u201d<\/p>\n
