JERSEY\u2019S only dedicated gluten-free shop and bakery is moving to a larger, more central location less than a year after opening its doors.<\/p>\n
TJ\u2019s Bake & Browse, which opened on Georgetown Road in November 2025, has reassured customers that it is \u201cnot closing\u201d after its current premises were advertised to rent.<\/p>\n
Owners Jess Rodrigues and Tom Hubert said they had \u201coutgrown\u201d the shop and were finalising arrangements for a new premises.<\/p>\n
In a social media post, the couple said: \u201cWe\u2019ve noticed some confusion following a recent post about our current premises becoming available to rent, so we\u2019d like to reassure all our wonderful customers that TJ\u2019s Bake & Browse is not closing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe always had big ideas of what to do and offer at TJ\u2019s but have outgrown our current space.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re finalising the arrangements for a new shop in a more central location.\u201d<\/p>\n
The business will continue trading as normal on Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 5.30pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm, as well as offering home delivery over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Customers have been told to look out for updates on the new location, with the current store expected to close early on some days in September to allow for the move.<\/p>\n
The couple added: \u201cThank you for all your support. We can\u2019t wait to welcome you to our new store very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
TJ\u2019s Bake & Browse opened last year as Jersey\u2019s first and only dedicated gluten-free shop and bakery.<\/p>\n
The idea was born from the couple\u2019s own difficulties finding suitable products, with the pair having coeliac disease and gluten and dairy allergies between them.<\/p>\n
Speaking ahead of the opening last year, Mr Hubert said there was \u201calways anxiety\u201d around shopping and eating out as someone with coeliac disease.<\/p>\n
He said the couple had become frustrated with having to search different supermarkets for gluten-free products, explaining: \u201cSome shops don\u2019t even have a [gluten-free] section.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome items are spread around the shelves, so you have to look through everything, which takes so much longer. We were just a bit frustrated with it all.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Georgetown shop stocks groceries including baking ingredients, sauces, snacks and cereals alongside homemade gluten-free baked goods.<\/p>\n
