(Image Credit: Carl Sorensen)<\/p>\n<p>By Alex Rawnsley<\/p>\n<p>incredible experience<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\tAug 24, 2026 | 3:51 PM\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>PARKSVILLE \u2014 In the nearly 1,200 dives he\u2019s completed, many off Vancouver Island, a local diver says none compares to an experience he had earlier this month involving a female sixgill shark.<\/p>\n<p>Carl Sorensen was diving solo off Madrona Point, between Parksville and Nanoose Bay on Aug. 17, seeking and videoing octopus around 100 feet below the surface.<\/p>\n<p>He told NanaimoNewsNOW he\u2019d been in the water for some time and was coming to the end of his dive when his adventure took a sudden turn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was at the deeper end of the site, and I had just finished looking at an octopus under this rock, and it didn\u2019t really want to come out to play.
