This year, the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival will honor ASC member Phedon Papamichael with its fourth annual Cinematography Icon Award, in recognition of his career achievements and impact on the greater filmmaking community.<\/p>\n
Papamichael will be presented with the award during Evolution Mallorca’s opening-night gala on Tuesday, October 21. He will also participate in a number of the festival’s Cinematography Focus events on Wednesday, October 22: Icon Talk, during which he will share “an in-depth conversation exploring his early career, creative challenges and collaborations with renowned directors”; a Sony-sponsored panel discussion entitled “Creating Emotion Through Cinematography,” which he will share with Oona Menges, BSC and Pablo Diez, AEC; and a Spotlight Screening of his most recent feature, the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown.<\/p>\n
Evolution Mallorca’s Cinematography Focus platform seeks “to advance the craft of cinematography through education, networking and recognition of artistic excellence,” according to the festival’s website.
