Eager to take in some art along with the seasonal foliage this autumn? You\u2019re in luck: six Tokyo Metropolitan Government-run museums and cultural institutions are reducing their fees and extending their opening hours during the season.<\/p>\n

The Edo-Tokyo Museum, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, the Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery, the Teien Art Museum and the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum are staying open until 8pm on Fridays from November 6 to November 27.<\/p>\n

Mirroring the currently running Summer Night Museum<\/a> programme, the autumn version will also feature discounts for general admission after 5pm, as well as free admission for students to some venues. Here are the details for each institution.<\/p>\n

Tokyo Metropolitan Edo-Tokyo Museum<\/a><\/p>\n

Friday opening hours extended to 8pm from November 6 to November 27<\/p>\n

On Fridays during the event period, visitors can enjoy the museum\u2019s permanent exhibition after the usual closing time of 5pm, with free admission for students and a 20 percent discount for adults. The \u2018NHK Taiga Drama Special Exhibition: Brothers in Arms<\/a>\u2019 exhibition is open until 8pm as well on November 6, but will not offer free admission for students.<\/p>\n

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum<\/a><\/p>\n

Friday opening hours extended until 8pm on November 20 and November 27<\/p>\n

The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum will extend its opening hours until 8pm on November 20 and 27, giving visitors the chance to enjoy three exhibitions in the evening. These include the free exhibitions \u2019100th Anniversary of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum: Ways of Reading \u2013 How the World Speaks to Us, How We Speak to the World<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018100th Anniversary Archives Exhibition: The History of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum<\/a>\u2019, as well as the paid exhibition \u2018100th Anniversary of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum: What a Wonderful World: Masterworks from the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Orsay<\/a>\u2019 \u2013 but at the full ticket price.<\/p>\n

Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum<\/a><\/p>\n

Friday opening hours extended to 8pm on November 6, 13, 20 and 27<\/p>\n

The \u2018Marimekko: Art of Printmaking \u2013 Beauty, Dream, Love<\/a>\u2019 exhibition will be open until 8pm on Fridays. Evening openings of the historic Art Deco building will also be held on November 21 and 28 and December 4 and 5. The museum\u2019s garden will be open during the extended hours as well, although access through parts of the Japanese garden will be limited to 6pm.<\/p>\n

Friday opening hours extended to 8pm on November 6, 13, 20 and 27<\/p>\n

The \u2018Duet: Asian Contemporary<\/a>\u2019 exhibition will be open until 8pm on Fridays. Evening openings will also be held on Thursdays November 5, 12, 19 and 26.
The \u2018Reassembling: Emerging Japanese Artists vol. 23<\/a>\u2019 exhibition will follow the same extended Friday hours on November 6, 13, 20 and 27, with additional evening openings on November 5, 12, 19 and 26.<\/p>\n

Friday opening hours extended to 8pm on November 6, 13, 20 and 27<\/p>\n

Three exhibitions will be available to enjoy during the extended Friday hours: \u2018Tada Minami: Still, shimmering light<\/a>\u2019, \u2018Synchronic Constellation: Cross-Boundary Perspectives in Art<\/a>\u2019 and \u2018MOT Collection: Past Light, Present Sight<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n

Tokyo Shibuya Koen-dori Gallery<\/p>\n

Friday opening hours extended to 8pm on November 6, 13, 20 and 27<\/p>\n

The \u2018Art Brut 2026 Touring Exhibition Sozo Training \u2013 Drawing out Imagination and Creation, Connecting, Being Here<\/a>\u2019 will be open during the extended Friday hours. Admission is free on all days.<\/p>\n
