Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei<\/a> released a written statement on Sunday urging Gulf rulers to “identify their real enemy and understand the plans to confront it.”<\/p>\n

Khamenei’s message, issued in commemoration of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, also called for “unity among Muslims” and mutual defense against their enemies.<\/p>\n

Iran’s leader hasn’t been seen for months since he got caught up in the opening strikes of the last Israel-Iran war, where his father, a predecessor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed.<\/p>\n

According to Israeli and American assessments<\/a>, Khamenei survived the attack, was severely wounded, but still continued to rule the country.<\/p>\n

“The Muslims\u2019 unity in the face of the world\u2019s disbelief is a Quranic strategy and a basic teaching of the pure Islam of Prophet Muhammad, not a superficial or transient matter,” Khamenei<\/a> wrote in his statement.<\/p>\n

Last Tuesday, Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi<\/a> published a message saying that “Iran\u2019s commitment to peace and stability is matched by steadfast diplomacy with our neighbors.”<\/p>\n

The Iranian official has been meeting with several representatives from neighboring nations, mainly from Oman and Pakistan, in a new push for regional diplomacy.<\/p>\n

“In talks with Pakistani and Omani guests, regional solutions were stressed. Proposed framework for new corridor, joint mine-clearing, and future management of Hormuz is case in point,” Araghchi wrote.<\/p>\n

Later on Friday, the Iranian FM said that he had met Qatar’s Foreign Minister, adding that “putting diplomacy back on track isn’t impossible.”<\/p>\n

“It hinges on US understanding of one simple fact: pressure doesn’t work.
