While SSI and Social Security are separate programs, about half of SSI recipients also receive Social Security benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Social Security payment dates for September 2026<\/p>\n<p>The Social Security Administration has published its <a data-ylk=\"elmt:article-inline-link;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/pubs\/EN-05-10031-2026.pdf\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">2026 benefit payment schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you receive regular Social Security benefits, your September payment will arrive on one of the following dates, depending on your birthdate and when you began receiving benefits:<\/p>\n<p>Thursday, Sept. 3: People who began receiving benefits before May 1997<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, Sept. 9: Birthdates from the 1st through the 10th<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, Sept. 16: Birthdates from the 11th through the 20th<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, Sept. 23: Birthdates from the 21st through the 31st<\/p>\n<p>What is SSI?<\/p>\n<p>Supplemental Security Income provides monthly payments to people who are:<\/p>\n<p>Living with a qualifying disability and who meet strict income and asset requirements<\/p>\n<p>SSI is a separate program from Social Security retirement benefits and is funded differently. Some people receive both types of benefits.<\/p>\n<p>When will SSI recipients receive their September payment?<\/p>\n<p>SSI recipients will receive their September payment on Tuesday, Sept. 1.<\/p>\n<p>When the first day of a month falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the Social Security Administration generally issues SSI payments on the preceding business day, according to <a data-ylk=\"elmt:article-inline-link;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ssa.gov\/faqs\/en\/questions\/KA-02274.html\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">SSA policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, SSI recipients will receive two payments in October. The first will arrive Oct. 1, while the second will arrive Oct. 30.
