The work is made primarily from materials generated by the museum over the years, including invitations, educational booklets, fundraising materials, art history books, curatorial essays and exhibition catalogues.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Installation-view-of-Kate-Dodd-Youre-Invited-Montclair-Art-Museum-5-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-711381\"  \/>Installation view of Kate Dodd: You\u2019re Invited!, Montclair Art Museum, Montclair, NJ (on view Sept 19, 2026). Photo: Gail Stavitsky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dodd assembled thousands of paper strips into a web of quilt-like patterns draped over an arched structure. The installation encompasses the museum\u2019s Laurie Art Stairway and curves upward across multiple windows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Words and phrases including \u201cYou\u2019re Invited,\u201d \u201cJoin Us!\u201d and \u201cSupport MAM\u201d are incorporated into the work alongside the names of artists, donors, curators and exhibitions and more than 20 images of works from the museum\u2019s collection.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"1040\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/Installation-view-of-Kate-Dodd-Youre-Invited-Montclair-Art-Museum-4-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-711382\"  \/>Installation view of Kate Dodd: You\u2019re Invited!, Montclair Art Museum, Montclair, NJ (on view Sept 19, 2026). Photo: Gail Stavitsky.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Artists represented include Philip Guston, Robert Henri, Lily Martin Spencer, George Inness, Elsie Driggs, Charles White and Tom Nussbaum, as well as Native artists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dodd said the installation offers \u201can opportunity to highlight the Museum\u2019s history, iconography, and generosity to the community in combination with the evolving meaning of this information over time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dodd, a resident of Orange, creates temporary and permanent site-specific installations and has completed public art commissions in New Jersey and elsewhere. Her work has been exhibited at museums, galleries and colleges around the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her recent projects include the 2024 exhibition \u201cKate Dodd: New Work\u201d at the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton. She received an Individual Artist Fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts in 2020 and has participated in several artist residencies, including at MacDowell. She earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in fine arts from Pratt Institute in 1983 and a master\u2019s degree in fine arts from Columbia University in 1990.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/1788457812_17_hqdefault.jpg\" alt=\"Youtube video\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" data-pin-nopin=\"true\" nopin=\"nopin\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exhibition, curated by Gail Stavitsky, the Montclair Art Museum\u2019s chief curator emerita, will remain on view through Aug. 6, 2027.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"451\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/essex-local-south-mountain-waterfront.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-587853 size-full\" style=\"object-position:50% 50%\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Who\u2019s reporting on Essex County?
