If you’re anything like me, you’ve been counting down the days until Practical Magic 2 is finally in cinemas. And while I’m excited to see what happens with the beloved Owens family, I’m admittedly just as giddy to see those iconic whimsical interiors.

If maximalist interior design is up your street too, you’ll have been just as enamoured with the set design in the original 1998 Practical Magic film. With warm woods, charming floral patterns, potion bottles and classic Victorian-style architecture, the set in the first film was a feast for the eyes. More importantly, it was a valuable lesson in making your home feel cosier, witchcraft included or not.

With that in mind, let’s throw some salt over our shoulders, grab a fresh brew and take a closer look at the standout interior style elements we’ve noticed on set of the new Owens home in Practical Magic 2.

What’s immediately clear from the snippets we see of the set in the official trailer is that the Owens family are masters of curated clutter. While the home is filled with things, from decorative china to spiritually charged houseplants, it all feels purposeful and cohesive.

One of the first things that caught our attention throughout the entire home is the use of layered lighting. Not only does this add to the charming yet spooky feel of the film, but it retains that original cosy atmosphere – which is what bewitched audiences back in the 90s.

Lamps are, of course, a great way to do this, but also adding your favourite scented candles for an ambient warm glow makes all the difference. Alternatively, try some incense for an autumnal, witchy twist.

The soft furnishings also add to the cosy appearance of the house, specifically the detailed patchwork throws. Those heavy, heritage patchwork blankets are a perfect way to bring a familial look to the Owens family home and help audiences reminisce not only about the first film but also about their own nostalgic upbringing.

The furniture, decorative cushions and even bedding also follow this style; it’s as if the Nancy Meyers interior trend has been stirred together with a touch of gothic.

Which brings us perfectly to the last design touch we’ll be immediately adding to our own homes: the decorative china and dinnerware. Not only can we spot some rather decadent blue and white china on display in a glass cabinet, but the plates are also used to add more interest in the kitchen too.

Crockery like this needn’t be ridiculously expensive; it’s something you can find secondhand, or collect over time to make it more affordable. It is, however, a great way to add personality to your home, whether that’s at the dinner table every night or in your hallway being displayed to view every time you pass it.

The Owens family certainly know a thing or two about timeless decor and the film set has mastered the art of an intergenerational family home filled with hand-me-downs, heirlooms and of course, essential potion ingredients.

So whether you’re looking for timeless autumn decor ideas or want to make your space cosier, there’s no better inspiration than this home of a stylish family of witches.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been counting down the days until Practical Magic 2 is finally in…

[31
437,434,435,436,438,146,85,46
post-608203","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-arts-and-design","tag-arts","tag-arts-and-design","tag-artsanddesign","tag-artsdesign","tag-design","tag-entertainment","tag-il","tag-israel
["GET
