Named Boomerang Athens, this is the first single-family home in Greece to achieve LEED Platinum certification under LEED v4.1 BD+C, the world’s most widely recognized green building rating system, providing a global framework for healthy, efficient, and cost-effective architecture. Designed as a climate-responsive urban home, the project unifies architecture, engineering, smart automation, and material restraint into a cohesive concept. Central to its environmental design, a rhythmic vertical screen controls solar exposure and privacy while filtering shifting shadow patterns indoors. Integrated planting zones weave greenery across this exterior shell, complementing ground-level solar panels that supply clean electricity.

Boomerang Athens by ECLÉDE | all images courtesy of ECLÉDE

ECLÉDE INTEGRATED ARCHITECTURAL ETHOS

Directed by founder Vassilis Siafaricas, Athens-based practice ECLÉDE bridges architecture, engineering, and construction into a single discipline. Drawing on his multidisciplinary background, Siafaricas establishes a framework where spatial concepts are continuously evaluated against structural logic, energy performance, and construction quality. The firm’s project has earned global recognition, receiving the German Design Award 2026 for Excellent Architecture alongside honors from the A’ Design Awards and the Architecture & Design Community Award, while Siafaricas was named to Architizer’s Visionary 100 list.

designed to reduce energy demand while preserving privacy, natural light, and material warmth

AN INVISIBLE INFRASTRUCTURE OF COMFORT

Designed to reduce energy demand while preserving privacy, light, and material warmth, the four-level residence functions as a continuous vertical landscape, drawing the eye upward from street level to the open sky. The layout comprises four en-suite bedrooms, open-plan living areas, a private elevator, panoramic terraces, and a rooftop pool overlooking Athens. Inside, the atmosphere relies on a tactile material discipline, where smooth marble, raw stone, warm natural timber, and bespoke joinery blend with expansive triple-glazed openings that flood the rooms with soft daylight and frame sweeping urban views.

Behind these architectural surfaces lies a technical infrastructure engineered for maximum efficiency. An advanced thermal envelope works alongside heat pumps, underfloor heating, smart ventilation, and a KNX automation system that centrally manages lighting, solar shading, and microclimate. Low-emission materials and acoustic dampening further protect indoor air quality and comfort. Through this synthesis of engineering and craft, Boomerang Athens presents a contemporary vision of Greek residential architecture grounded in durability, environmental accountability, and functional precision.

<img decoding="async" class="size-full wp-image-1205488 lazyload" bad-src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" alt="first single-family home in greece achieves LEED platinum certification for sustainable living -
