This was 249 out of 650 for Manchester, and 101 out of 300 for Birmingham, the Press Association report.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Updated at\u00a011.40 EDT<\/p>\n Ryanair calls for NATS CEO to quit<\/p>\n Budget airline Ryanair has blasted \u201coverpaid failing NATS CEO Martin Rolfe\u201d over today\u2019s disruption, and demanded (not for the first time) that he quits his job.<\/p>\n According to Ryanair, over 65,000 of its passengers have been delayed today, with more than 50 flights cancelled, after today\u2019s air traffic control technical problems.<\/p>\n Ryanair COO, Neal McMahon, says:<\/p>\n double quotation mark\u201cHow many more failures do passengers have to suffer before overpaid failure NATS CEO, Martin Rolfe, accepts responsibility for his repeated mismanagement and resigns? Please check with your airline for latest advice.<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Disruption at London City Airport<\/p>\n London City Airport has confirmed it is experiencing disruption to departing flights, following the NATS technical problem today.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for London City Airport said:<\/p>\n double quotation mark\u201cDue to an air traffic control issue affecting airports across London, London City Airport is experiencing disruption to departing flights.<\/p>\n \u201cPassengers should check their flight status with their airline before travelling to the airport.<\/p>\n \u201cWe apologise for the inconvenience and thank passengers for their patience.\u201d<\/p>\n Share<\/a>Lung disease drug success for AstraZeneca Away from today\u2019s flight disruption, a lung disease drug being developed by AstraZeneca for COPD has performed well in late-stage clinical trials, a welcome boost to Britain\u2019s biggest pharmaceutical company following several setbacks recently.<\/p>\n Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a long-term lung condition that makes breathing harder over time through chronic inflammation of the airways, and can also lead to a chronic cough and excess mucus.<\/p>\n The company\u2019s tozorakimab drug, administered once every four weeks, showed a reduction in moderate and severe COPD exacerbations (which lead to more than 2,500 emergency department visits a day in the US) in former smokers of up to 34%, and in current and former smokers by 30%, compared with a placebo. A total of 2,306 patients were involved.<\/p>\n The drug led to a reduction of 43% in exacerbations in patients with the highest level of of blood eosinophil, a biomarker. The data was presented at the European Respiratory Society Congress in Barcelona.<\/p>\n Frank Sciurba, professor of pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and chief trial investigator, said:<\/p>\n double quotation mark\u201cThese unprecedented results, along with its favourable safety profile, underscore tozorakimab\u2019s potential as an innovative treatment for the millions of people living with COPD who remain at risk despite treatment with inhaled standard of care.\u201d<\/p>\n COPD is the third-biggest cause of death worldwide, excluding Covid-19. Such as food and drink, phone calls and if necessary overnight accommodation including transport to the hotel.<\/p>\n Insurers and Airlines could class issues as \u2018extraordinary circumstances\u2019, which ultimately means it is a situation beyond their control and could not have been foreseen or avoided. As a result, you may not be entitled to compensation as it is not considered to be the airlines\u2019 \u2018fault\u2019 and therefore they are not liable.<\/p>\n That being said, the above refers to \u2018compensation\u2019. Transport providers and tour operators do have a responsibility to either provide a reasonable alternative or a full refund should a flight not go ahead as planned.
