In Israel, right-wing activists left a floral wreath at the entrance to the home of Ofer Winter, leader of the People of Israel party, in Mitzpe Netofa. They were protesting his decision to run independently in the upcoming Knesset elections, The Jerusalem Post reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The wreath bore the inscription: \u201cThank you from the bottom of our hearts, Gali Baharav-Miara.\u201d According to the publication, the activists were seeking to state that Winter\u2019s party running independently could weaken the right-wing bloc.<\/p>\n

Before this, Winter had been pressured for several days and urged to join one of the right-wing political forces rather than run separately. Despite this, the politician submitted an electoral list for the Knesset on behalf of the party he founded, confirming his intention to run independently.<\/p>\n

Reaction from the party and Smotrich<\/p>\n

Commenting on the appearance of the wreath, the People of Israel party said it should have been sent to those who, in its words, had not dismissed Baharav-Miara from her post for four years. The party also said that while others are engaged in \u201ctricks and flowers,\u201d it intends to pursue change.<\/p>\n

Bezalel Smotrich, leader of the Religious Zionism party and Israel\u2019s finance minister, criticized Winter\u2019s refusal to unite with the national camp. According to him, Baharav-Miara, Yitzhak Amit and their colleagues from the left-wing political spectrum could benefit from this. Smotrich also questioned the credibility of Winter\u2019s promise to recommend Benjamin Netanyahu for the position of prime minister.<\/p>\n

Support for Netanyahu<\/p>\n

Winter has stated that he considers his party part of the right-wing bloc and will recommend only Netanyahu for the position of prime minister. At the same time, he set a condition for joining Netanyahu\u2019s future government: a conscription law must be passed before the cabinet is sworn in.<\/p>\n

Winter also noted that the party does not rule out political alliances, but will agree to them only with new forces.<\/p>\n
