A man based in Gurugram has shared how his house help earns around Rs 60,000 a month and manages her finances, saying her approach to money made him rethink what financial discipline really means.<\/p>\n
In a post on LinkedIn, Shiva Mittal said his help works across five to six homes every day and takes only three to four fixed leaves a month. Despite the demanding routine, she manages to support her daughter\u2019s education at a private school, pay Rs 10,000 in monthly rent excluding utilities and cover her daily expenses.<\/p>\n
She is also steadily paying an EMI for a piece of land worth Rs 6 lakh in her hometown. \u201cWhat you don’t spend is what you save,\u201d Shiva quoted her as saying, describing it as her simple approach to managing money.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat struck me most wasn\u2019t just the math, but where that money actually goes,\u201d he said. Her spending is focused almost entirely on necessities, with her main priority being to secure a stable future for her daughter.<\/p>\n
Mittal contrasted this with people who take on EMIs for depreciating assets such as cars and gadgets, along with lifestyle upgrades that may be driven by appearances or social expectations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe read personal finance books, download budgeting apps, and still find ways to leak money despite having comfortable corporate safety nets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He noted that his help has no corporate safety net, employee benefits or insurance and little room for financial error. Yet, according to him, she maintains a clear focus on what matters to her without relying on spreadsheets or formal financial planning.<\/p>\n
Shiva also highlighted her work routine, saying she shows up every morning before 7 am and works across multiple homes to maintain her income.<\/p>\n
