The praise comes from L.A. news sources who have no intention of upsetting the Hollywood icon. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jane Horowitz of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2026-09-09\/lucas-museum-challenges-art-world-hierarchies-will-other-museums-follow\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2026-09-09\/lucas-museum-challenges-art-world-hierarchies-will-other-museums-follow\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Los Angeles Times previews the institution covering a bit of the controversy.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, with an eclectic collection of more than 40,000 works ranging from Frida Kahlo to R. Crumb, is diving headlong into one of the oldest and most fraught conversations in the art world: What belongs in an art museum? <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maximiliano Dur\u00f4n for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/art-news\/reviews\/lucas-museum-los-angeles-review-1234796964\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/art-news\/reviews\/lucas-museum-los-angeles-review-1234796964\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Art News in N.Y., though impressed with the collection of art, has a different take.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a picture is worth a thousand words, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/t\/lucas-museum-of-narrative-art\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lucas Museum of Narrative Art<\/a> in Los Angeles has decided it\u2019s not worth writing a single one. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem as Maximiliano sees it is that there is no history or context accompanying the artwork: <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But what is immediately apparent is the lack of didactics anywhere in the museum. The argument here, as confirmed by the museum, is that looking should be privileged.
