You’ve picked the colour, sorted the storage and maybe even lined up a buyer for your old phone. Now comes the last decision: just how much protection does your new iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone Duo need?

Casetify may be best known for turning phone cases into a personal statement, but protection is also a big part of its designs. With more than 19 million cases sold worldwide, the brand is putting greater emphasis on durability, with its latest Impact family for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo.

The Impact and Ultra Impact Cases have undergone 104 and 158 drop tests respectively. But unless you spend your weekends conducting drop tests, those numbers probably do not tell you which one to choose.

The more useful question is how your phone tends to get treated day to day. For Casetify, being “built for life” means designing cases to handle not just one dramatic fall, but the smaller knocks and wear that come with actually using your phone.

Both cases share much of the same foundation. Casetify’s EcoShock Design and Twister Pattern are designed to help disperse impact, while its Enhanced Duo-Lock construction creates a stronger bond between the bumper and backplate to help them stay securely joined through repeated everyday knocks.

They also come embedded with N52 MagSafe magnets, an integrated camera control button and reinforced strap sockets for attaching charms and straps.

There is more room for customisation this time too. Both the Impact and Ultra Impact Cases now feature Casetify’s Glaze finish, which uses glossy protective printing methods to help keep prints vibrant.

Its designs are printed inside the backplate rather than on the surface to help protect them from scratches and everyday peeling, and are backed by a lifetime no-peel guarantee. That means choosing stronger protection no longer means giving up the prints and customisation Casetify is known for.

So whichever case you choose, you are largely getting the same core features and customisation options. Where they differ is how much protection they provide – and how much case you want around your phone.

Think of the Impact Case as the everyday option.

It is made for the accidents that tend to happen when you are not thinking about them: your phone sliding off the sofa, slipping from your hand while you juggle grocery bags, or hitting the floor as you rush out the door.

The case is rated for drops of up to 2.5m and was put through 104 drops in testing, or four times the standard MIL-STD-810G drop-test cycle, while retaining the EcoShock design and Duo-Lock construction found across the Impact family.

A 1.4mm raised bezel and matching camera ring help protect the display and lenses when the phone is placed face-down.

It is also slimmer than the Ultra Impact Case, making it the more straightforward choice if you mainly want protection against everyday bumps and drops without adding too much bulk.

If your phone tends to have a rougher life – perhaps it regularly gets tossed into a bag, knocked off a gym bench or brought along on hikes – the Ultra Impact Case steps things up.

The case is rated for drops of up to 3.5m and was put through 158 drops in testing, or six times the standard MIL-STD-810G drop-test cycle. Reinforced EcoShock corners and internal air-cushion chambers are designed to endure the force of harder landings without wearing down after the first few drops.

Its bezel goes up to 1.6mm and camera ring up to 1.8mm, creating more separation between your screen or lenses and whatever they land on. Casetify has also strengthened its Duo-Lock bonding by up to 20 per cent, so the bumper and backplate stay joined through it all – not just one dramatic fall.

The choice comes down to how much protection you need. The Impact Case is designed for everyday protection in a slimmer form, while the Ultra Impact Case provides more cushioning against harder drops. Since both cases share Casetify’s core design and customisation features, the main question is simply how rough a life your phone tends to lead.
