\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t know what to say. I am intense,\u201d Tom Cruise<\/a> concluded in a rare sit-down video interview published today by GQ Magazine.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe veteran actor was speaking with the magazine as he gears up for the release of Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu\u2019s Digger<\/a> next month. During the conversation, Cruise was asked about the lessons he learned early in his career as an actor. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had to learn early. I was living in many different schools, and it taught me about human behavior, about life, but it\u2019s a journey. So movies are\u2014this is about humanity,\u201d Cruise told the magazine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI have nothing against cable or TV or Netflix. I think it\u2019s great. Create jobs and everything. But what I like about cinema is it is all of us coming together in a room and sharing an experience. I say, \u2018Understand the tools, then go create what you want to create.\u2019 When I\u2019m working with people, I\u2019m not afraid to, as I\u2019m acting, look foolish to do it. It\u2019s like: That\u2019s not what this is about. It\u2019s finding our tone, finding these tools together and having an experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCruise added: \u201cAnd look, I work hard, and people that work with me, they know. I expect a lot, and I\u2019m up-front about it. It\u2019s like: The rumors are true. And do you want this?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCruise was asked if that is truly his pitch to potential collaborators, to which he responded: \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re there. I\u2019m like, \u2018Trust me, the rumors are true. I\u2019ll be here before you. What experience do you want?\u2019 And I\u2019m very open. It\u2019s not like we don\u2019t have a plan. We have scripts, we have plans, we\u2019re going through it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBut I also feel that level of responsibility for\u2014I guess, for everyone. Even when I was a kid, they were like, Oh, come on, Tom. You\u2019re so intense. I\u2019m like, I don\u2019t know what to say. I am intense. I got a very good sense of humor about it, but it was like: When I\u2019m interested in something, I want to learn it. I want to understand it. And you want to blast through the confusion and kind of build up that ability.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWarner Bros. will release Digger in cinemas worldwide on October 2. The film stars Cruise as an oil baron named Digger Rockwell who is charged with saving the day to avert an environmental catastrophe that he caused in the first place.
