According to the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-908721\">Jerusalem Post<\/a>, Abu Obeid took command of the brigade after the death of its previous commander, Muhammad Shabana, whom the Israeli military killed in May 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Statement by Israeli services<\/p>\n<p>The IDF and Shin Bet reported the operation in a joint statement on Tuesday, September 15. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strike. According to the Israeli army, he was struck overnight before that in the northern Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli army described Batash as responsible for the logistics of the Northern Gaza Brigade in Hamas\u2019s military wing and for supplying weapons and equipment to the group\u2019s militants in the region. Last Thursday, the IDF and Shin Bet also said they had eliminated Muhammad Yazuri in the Khan Younis area.
