{"id":617208,"date":"2026-09-15T22:38:08","date_gmt":"2026-09-15T22:38:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/617208\/"},"modified":"2026-09-15T22:38:08","modified_gmt":"2026-09-15T22:38:08","slug":"idf-strike-in-gaza-strip-targets-hamas-rafah-brigade-commander","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/617208\/","title":{"rendered":"IDF strike in Gaza Strip targets Hamas Rafah Brigade commander"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The IDF and Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) issued a joint statement on Tuesday, saying that they killed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-900864\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hamas\u2019s Rafah Brigade<\/a> commander, Nael Abu Obeid, in a strike in the southern Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Obeid replaced his predecessor, Mohammad Shabanah, who was killed by the IDF in May 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Abu Obeid was a key figure among Hamas leaders, according to a statement from the IDF, and previously served as the deputy commander of the Rafah Brigade and commander of the Tel al-Sultan and Yibna Battalions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">During his time as the Rafah Brigade commander, Abu Obeid directed terror attacks against Israeli troops and offensives against IDF troops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strike, saying that &#8220;our message is clear: no terrorist is immune, and Hamas will not be in Gaza.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In a statement announcing Abu Obeid\u2019s death, the IDF said they \u201cremain deployed in the area in accordance with the agreement and will continue to operate to remove any threat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The terrorist, identified as Ahmad Batash, was responsible for managing logistics for the Izzadin al-Qassam Brigades Northern Gaza Brigade and was an integral part of supplying weapons and equipment to Hamas terrorists in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Last Thursday, the IDF and Shin Bet<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-908376\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> killed Muhammad Yazouri<\/a> in the Khan Yunis area. Yazouri served as commander of Hamas\u2019s Khan Yunis Brigade in the terrorist organization\u2019s military wing in the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>Yazouri\u00a0was appointed to the position after holding a series of roles in the brigade, including deputy commander of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/khan-yunis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Khan Yunis<\/a> Brigade, commander of the brigade\u2019s combat support battalion, and head of its intelligence department.
