Consumer health company\u00a0Haleon<\/a>\u00a0has achieved growing sales of products to counter side-effects of weight-loss drugs \u2060in\u00a0the United States, the company said, capitalising on the rising popularity \u200bof GLP-1 medication.<\/p>\n Drugs such \u200bas Novo \u200bNordisk<\/a>‘s Wegovy and\u00a0Eli Lilly’<\/a>s Zepbound and Foundayo help people to lose weight by mimicking a hormone that keeps the stomach \u2060feeling full.<\/p>\n Potential \u200cside-effects from these GLP-1 drugs include nausea, \u2060vomiting, constipation and diarrhea. Some people also experience abdominal pain and stomach cramps.<\/p>\n Haleon, which makes Advil pain relief pills, TUMS indigestion tablets and Biot\u00e8ne \u200coral-care gels, said it is working with\u00a0U.S.-based stores including\u00a0CVS<\/a> Pharmacy\u00a0to put its products in \u200bspaces curated for GLP-1 drug users as well as on regular store aisles.<\/p>\n “Dual placement in core aisles and GLP-1 destination sets delivers an average 24% sales \u2060lift per store,” a\u00a0Haleon\u00a0spokesperson said of the previously unreported \u200cstrategy. The sales increase was recorded in \u200cthe first quarter of the year.<\/p>\n “Haleon\u00a0holds the majority of GLP-1 shelf space at CVS,” the spokesperson added, noting that curated \u2060items on dedicated GLP-1 shelves in stores are outperforming the \u2060same items in stores without one.<\/p>\n About 11% of \u2060Americans are on GLP-1 weight-loss drugs, according to analytics company Gallup.<\/p>\n “CVS Pharmacy\u00a0has expanded its product \u200bassortment and is highlighting CVS \u200cbrand and national brand over-the-counter products to help make managing side effects easier,” the retailer said in a statement without addressing\u00a0Haleon’s\u00a0comments directly.<\/p>\n London-listed\u00a0Haleon\u00a0has also spoken to retail giants\u00a0Walmart<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Target<\/a>\u00a0\u200babout its GLP-1 in-store strategy, the \u200cHaleon spokesperson added without disclosing the outcome of those talks.<\/p>\n
