A new Cascade PBS Original documentary dives into\u202fthe relationship between a range rider trying to protect wolves and a rancher trying to protect his cattle. \u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

On October 4, Wolf Land will premiere on Cascade PBS and its on-demand channel. \u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

For a century, northeastern Washington\u2019s dense forests have been both spaces for humans and wildlands, where wolves and ranchers have been at odds.\u202f\u00a0

\u202fWolf Land profiles a self-described \u201cwolf-protecting cowboy,\u201d Daniel Curry, who rides the line between cultures in search of common ground using non-lethal methods to preserve the wolves and cattle.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, cattle ranchers feel that wolves threaten their families\u2019 livelihoods and culture. \u202f \u00a0<\/p>\n

When wolves attack cattle, it creates tension that puts the endangered animals at risk of being killed by state agencies or private citizens.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI think our main goal was to really take this black-and-white issue and break it down and show solutions. This is a really divisive issue, where people typically take one side. They\u2019re either pro-wolf or anti-wolf, pro-ranching or anti-ranching, and our goal was to really show that there are ways, if people can talk to each other, listen to each other, and look for solutions on issues. That are, you know, breaking down in communication, that it could really create change,\u201d Wolf Land director and producer Sarah Hoffman said.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that\u2019s also a message that can be taken into other issues that we\u2019re dealing with that are divisive in this time right now.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
