{"id":618563,"date":"2026-09-17T04:34:15","date_gmt":"2026-09-17T04:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/618563\/"},"modified":"2026-09-17T04:34:15","modified_gmt":"2026-09-17T04:34:15","slug":"musks-long-time-backer-is-giving-spacex-stock-to-its-investors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/618563\/","title":{"rendered":"Musk&#8217;s long-time backer is giving SpaceX stock to its investors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">VC firm Valor Equity Partners, founded by Antonio Gracias, a long-time Elon Musk backer and current SpaceX board member, has opted to simply give away a chunk of its SpaceX stock to its limited partner investors, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.secform4.com\/filings\/1181412\/0001213900-26-100186.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">an SEC filing<\/a> spotted <a href=\"https:\/\/ca.finance.yahoo.com\/news\/musk-backer-valor-hands-investors-162710447.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">by Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Valor made a killing on SpaceX after investing in it over decades, with entities controlled by Gracias owning more than 500 million shares at the time of the IPO. This was <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/05\/21\/who-will-benefit-most-from-spacex-ipo-mostly-elon-and-a-few-from-his-inner-circle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">second only to Musk<\/a> (who owned over 6 billion shares at the time). But instead of cashing out and issuing returns to LPs, Valor handed over 8.5% of its holdings to them, worth about $8.5 billion, Bloomberg estimates. Valor will still own more than 460 million shares after the giveaway, the SEC disclosure form says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Transferring ownership of the shares could give those Valor limited partners a tax advantage. More importantly, it avoids dumping a giant tranche of shares into the open market. Such a dump could cause a glut of available shares and a corresponding dip in price.
