Spearheading production on Sharon Horgan\u2019s first theatrical feature screenplay \u2013 contemporary drama 25 Scenes starring Jude Law \u2013 is a marker of career growth for Katie Sinclair. She joined Law\u2019s Riff Raff Entertainment as head of development in 2022, was promoted to head of film and TV last year, and is also \u201ca producer in my own right\u201d within the company.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can be more involved in the producing, strategy and packaging side of matchmaking talent across our projects, and getting them over the line,\u201d explains Sinclair.<\/p>\n
She will also produce Fireworks Every Night, having given writer-director India Donaldson the novel by Beth Raymer on which the film is based. Sinclair is producing it alongside Backrooms producer Kori Adelson for Chernin, which is financing; and is also producing the new feature from On Falling\u2019s Laura Carreira, which is with BBC Film.<\/p>\n
Sinclair says she wrote \u201c200 letters to every studio and production company\u201d, and got her start as a production and development intern at Lionsgate in 2012, followed by production roles at Disney and BBC Studios.<\/p>\n
Working under Rose Garnett and Eva Yates at BBC Film honed her \u201chighly organised\u201d nature. \u201cI was producing their diaries and their lives,\u201d says Sinclair. \u201cI realised that alongside my editorial instincts, I had a drive to work across all aspects of producing.\u201d<\/p>\n
As development executive for more than three years at Blueprint Pictures, Sinclair earned credits on films including Bafta winner The Banshees Of Inisherin, Bifa best film All Of Us Strangers\u00a0and Emma\u00a0starring Anya Taylor-Joy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI learned how to develop projects that feel commercial, but not in a way that diminishes the filmmaker\u2019s voice,\u201d says Sinclair. Riff Raff credits include Justin Kurzel\u2019s 2024 feature The Order and Netflix miniseries Black Rabbit, the latter netting seven Emmy nominations this year.<\/p>\n
An Inside Pictures graduate and a mentor at Creative Access and Arts Emergency, Sinclair also produces short films through her own Tannahill Productions and Messy Films. \u201cI would love to tell authored stories for wide audiences by elevating filmmakers and cross-pollinating relationships,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m open to the roles that will take me to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
