\u201cThe US president described us as terrorists. We have been the victims of terrorism,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
He says the US \u201cbombed a school\u201d and \u201cchildren perished under bombs with weapons used by the US and Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n
He says Iran \u201cdid not bow our head \u2026 and responded, but we did not hit civilian populations,\u201d but \u201conly defended ourselves \u2013 we are not terrorists.\u201d<\/p>\n

We hope that\u2019s an invitation he\u2019ll accept,\u201d Rubio said.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Paraguay\u2019s president Santiago Pena called for Venezuela\u2019s reintegration into the South \u2060American trade bloc Mercosur, speaking to world leaders at the UN General Assembly earlier today.<\/p>\n Venezuela has been indefinitely suspended as a member \u2060of Mercosur, which comprises some \u2060of South \u200bAmerica\u2019s biggest economies, including Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.<\/p>\n Chile\u2019s president Jose Antonio Kast, whose country is an associate member of the bloc, \u2060is scheduled to meet with Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodriguez on the sidelines of the General Assembly on Thursday.<\/p>\n In his speech, Pena also said \u2060he wants to see Venezuela undergo a genuine and lasting democratic transition.<\/p>\n Share<\/a><\/p>\n Karis says \u201cmutual dependence has begun to be treated as a critical vulnerability\u201d as \u201caggression, war and conflict risks becoming the new normal\u201d.<\/p>\n He says that millions of people are suffering around the world in places like Ukraine<\/a>, Gaza, Sudan and Myanmar.<\/p>\n Karis goes on to talk about climate change and says the planet is \u201con fire\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThe time to act is now,\u201d he says. \u201cEstonia is contributing its share \u2026 yes, the world is on fire, troubles and problems mounting before our eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n President of Estonia Alar Karis speaks during the General Debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly at United Nations Headquarters in New York. Photograph: Mike Segar\/Reuters<\/p>\n He says the UN \u201chas become a useless organisation whose only purpose is to sustain a cast of fatally arrogant parasites masquerading as well intentioned bureaucrats.\u201d<\/p>\n He says \u201cthe alleged defenders of human rights\u201d repeatedly \u201cfailed in their task\u201d as they voted against Israel while \u201cremaining silent in the face of Islamis terrorism and the genocide of Christians in Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n He then gets particularly animated about what he calls the Malvinas Islands \u2013 the Falkland Islands \u2013 which he says \u201cfor us are a national cause.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAn organisation established to defend the territorial sovereignty of its members decided to look the other way with regard to the situation of the Malvinas Island,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n He criticises the Sea Lion Project, a major offshore oil development located in the North Falkland Basin, and says it shows \u201can unlawful act\u201d as is not authorised by Argentina.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat use is a resolution if for decades the other party can act in direct contravention of it?\u201d he asks.<\/p>\n He says \u201cthere is no shortage of words or resolution, but what is lacking is consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s why the Malvinas are not merely an issue between Argentina and the United Kingdom. They also raise a question regarding the ability of this organisation to enforce its own resolutions.\u201d<\/p>\n Milei says the principle of self-determination should not apply for the Falkland Islands as \u201cthe population was implanted by the occupying power on a territory whose sovereignty is in dispute.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe call on the United Kingdom to resume negotiations with a view to finding a peaceful solution to the sovereignty dispute as required by international law.\u201d<\/p>\n He says somewhat threateningly, without offering more detail that Argentina \u201cwill not remain indifferent to those who exploit resources under illegal foreign occupation.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI have come to tell you that Argentina is not going to sit around waiting for the UN and the international community to live up to their own mandate. Photograph: Mike Segar\/Reuters<\/p>\n Speaking specifically on Ukraine<\/a>, he warns that \u201cRussia\u2019s aggression continues to inflict enormous suffering on the Ukrainian people, civilians and civilians.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cRussia\u2019s aggressive posture poses a direct threat to European security as a whole,\u201d he warns, talking about recent incidents involving Russia, including at Leipzig airport in Germany.<\/p>\n But framing his argument more broadly, he says:<\/p>\n \u201cThe consequences of aggression reach far beyond Europe. Russia\u2019s war has undermined global food security, disrupting agricultural production, exports and supply chains.
