The *NSYNC alum, 49, and his business partner and manager Joe Mulvihill, 56, officially opened Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice at Universal CityWalk at Universal Orlando Resort on Saturday, Sept. 19.<\/p>\n

“We kept talking about Universal. We know everybody here, and people we used to work with are now running the company, so it’s a cool little friendly family environment,” Fatone says.<\/p>\n

Both he and Mulvihill were cast in roles during the park’s production of Beetlejuice’s Rock and Roll Graveyard Revue<\/a> and attended Dr. Phillip’s High School in Orlando together, which is conveniently located across the street from the theme park.<\/p>\n

Another fellow celebrity who went to high school with the pair is singer Luis Fonsi, whom Fatone says was in an a cappella group with him and inspired one of the signature hot dogs on the Fat One’s menu \u2014 El Fonsi.<\/p>\n

“Fonsi helped and he was happy with it and said, ‘Go ahead, I love it,'” Fatone says of the “Despacito” singer-approved dog that contains ham, turkey, Swiss, sofrito, onion jam, mayo-ketchup and potato sticks on a brioche bun. “I think that’s what it is, too. We took all these different ideas from around the world and different flavors that we have definitely enjoyed throughout our years traveling.”<\/p>\n

Other standout dogs include the Dirty K-Pop Dog, a Korean-inspired dog with kimchi slaw, spicy gochujang mayo, scallions, crispy onions and black sesame on a brioche bun. And of course, the star of the show is The Fat One, which is a monster footlong hot dog topped with roasted pork, pepperoni, chili beans, cheddar cheese sauce, red onion sauce, pop fries and chives on a soft bun.<\/p>\n

“I mean, it’s not for the faint of heart, let’s be real here,” Fatone says with a laugh of his namesake dog. “And we’re here at a theme park. We’re running around. We wanna have something that’s gonna fill us up on the go. That’s a good thing for a family, which is great.”<\/p>\n

Though Fatone originally came up with the idea of wanting to start a food business by franchising a hot dog truck he saw at Lollapalooza in Chicago, Mulvihill convinced him to open his own under the name Fat One’s, a play on the & Juliet star’s last name.<\/p>\n

Fatone really wants Fat One’s to feel like an extension of himself and where he comes from.<\/p>\n

“It reminds me of living in New York and being in Brooklyn and going to Coney Island and getting a Nathan’s hot dog and all those kind of feels for me. It’s like I wanted to bring that to Florida, but also kick it up a notch and make it a little bit different,” he says. “Let’s bring you to my home and then let’s show you others.”<\/p>\n

The menu will also kick off with six flavors of classic Italian Ice, another homage to Fatone’s Brooklyn days \u2014 he promises customers that the ices will be served in the old-school white paper cups that you can fold up and “get your hands sticky.”<\/p>\n

For Fat One’s, the Universal Studios outpost is only the beginning.<\/p>\n

“When you know you have something good, and in your heart you feel as if you do, keep running with it. Even if it may be on the back burner for a minute because it may not be the right time,” Fatone says. “Certain things are all about timing.”<\/p>\n

“So that’s our motto is let’s do it, but be patient,” Mulvihill adds. “Work with the right people and have a really good time while we’re doing it. At least that’s the goal, and I think we’ve done pretty well so far.”<\/p>\n

Fat One’s Hot Dogs & Italian Ice is now officially open at Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida.<\/p>\n
