\n\tThe 2026 MTV Video Music Awards<\/a> ceremony has arrived. Tonight, the biggest names in music gathered at the VMAs<\/a> to see who would take home the night\u2019s top prizes.<\/p>\n

\n\tMadonna<\/a> led all nominees <\/a>this year with 13, thanks largely in part to the \u00a0short film she made<\/a>\u00a0for her celebrated new album,\u00a0Confessions II<\/a>. In addition to being up for the coveted Video of the Year, it\u2019s also earned several nods in creative categories, including Best Direction, Cinematography, and Choreography. It also received a nomination for the resurrected Best Dance category, which was doled out regularly for decades beginning in 1989, but hasn\u2019t been awarded since 2019.<\/p>\n

\n\tMadonna and Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s Confessions II song, \u201cBring Your Love,\u201d scored nominations for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration, and Madonna is up for Artist of the Year, too.<\/p>\n

\n\tTaylor Swift<\/a> trailed closely behind, earning 11 nominations. She is also up for Artist of the Year. Swift\u2019s video for her\u00a0Life of a Showgirl<\/a>\u00a0hit,\u00a0\u201cThe Fate of Ophelia,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0is nominated for Video of the Year, Best Pop, and numerous creative prizes. The visual for Swift\u2019s other big Showgirl hit,\u00a0\u201cOpalite,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0also scored a lone nod for Best Direction.\u00a0It was already a big night for Swift leading up to the VMAs, as she was named the inaugural recipient of the MTV VMA Artist Director Honors<\/a> ahead of the show.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the coveted Video of the Year category, the\u00a0Confessions II\u00a0short film and \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d will compete against Ariana Grande\u2019s \u201cHate That I Made You Love Me,\u201d Bruno Mars\u2019 \u201cI Just Might,\u201d Gener8ion and Yung Lean\u2019s \u201cStorm,\u201d and Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s \u201cTears.\u201d Artist of the Year boasts Madonna and Swift competing against Grande, Mars, Carpenter, and Morgan Wallen.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther highlights from this year\u2019s VMAs are Nirvana will receive the Video Vanguard Award<\/a>, and a bevy of newcomers are all up for Best New Artist, including Bella Kay, Cortis, Magnus Ferrell, Malcolm Todd, Myles Smith, Sienna Spiro, and Stella Lefty.\u00a0<\/p>\n
