Anne Hathaway’s Hot Ones update has made headlines, and in the video, the mom-to-be explained that her doctor advised against the spicy wing challenge. It appeared she had planned to try it for the “Verity” press tour.

In the interview, Hathaway wore a black off-the-shoulder top with lace trim in the clip. With her hair pulled back in a sleek high ponytail, the Oscar winner looked gorgeous yet effortless. She added sparkly earrings, silver rings, and dark nail polish.

The hosts wore a navy polo and a colorful floral cardigan. Both looked amused as Hathaway spoke. In the first part, Hathaway said the Call Her Daddy scene with Alex Cooper was always in the script. Later, she asked in a production meeting whether that was enough to make “Verity” iconic. She then pitched adding Hot Ones to the fictional press tour.

Furthermore, the clip cut to a Hot Ones set filled with hot sauce bottles and wings. Hathaway shared that she ate the first three wings for real while filming, then switched to dummy wings. She did not want her first gauntlet to happen while playing a character, comparing it to a first kiss.

Meanwhile, the real-life plan changed. She had hoped to take on the full 10-piece challenge to promote the film, but then she said, “I got pregnant, and my doctor said I couldn’t do it.” Her doctor warned it might trigger early labor. She has still not completed the gauntlet, though she hinted at trying next year.

For those unversed, the 43-year-old is expecting her third child with her husband, Adam Shulman. Hathaway announced her pregnancy in June. She shares two sons, Jonathan and Jack, with Shulman. “Verity” hits theaters on October 2, and the mom of two plans to take a break afterward.
