{"id":633228,"date":"2026-10-01T14:14:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/633228\/"},"modified":"2026-10-01T14:14:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-01T14:14:09","slug":"gateshead-fc-national-league-club-fail-to-pay-september-wages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/633228\/","title":{"rendered":"Gateshead FC: National League club fail to pay September wages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Troubled National League side Gateshead have failed to pay players and staff their wages for September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The club are bottom of the league and have lost their past five games, conceding 16 goals and scoring just once.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Earlier this week, Mark Nellist resigned from the board of directors and withdrew his funding support, citing that the Tyneside club was <a href=\"https:\/\/gateshead-fc.com\/mark-nellist-resigns-from-gateshead-football-clubs-board-of-directors\/\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;not heading in the direction I would have liked or hoped for&#8221;., external<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">But the Heed&#8217;s interim chairman Graham Wood said he was hopeful of quickly finding new investment for the club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Following Mark Nellist&#8217;s sudden decision to withdraw his funding support for the club we have been fully focused on seeking new investment,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Significant progress has been made in the past 24 hours and we are hopeful of making an announcement in the next day or so.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Meanwhile, to facilitate our efforts, Mark has agreed to make his shares available for a nominal sum.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Lee Cattermole&#8217;s side next face Worthing at home on Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Troubled National League side Gateshead have failed to pay players and staff their wages for September.
