Anne Hathaway has officially had enough of the red carpet, and she’s making her exit in the most dramatic way possible.<\/p>\n

After starring in five movies released in 2026<\/a>, the Oscar winner kept her word and disappeared from the spotlight following her latest press tour.<\/p>\n

And yes, she literally turned herself into smoke.<\/p>\n

Anne Hathaway “Vanishes” in Hilarious Video<\/p>\n

Hathaway shared a hilarious video on Instagram Oct. 2, filmed ahead of the Los Angeles premiere of Verity.<\/p>\n

“We’re heading out to the Verity\u00a0premiere,” the 43-year-old actress says in the clip. “Verity comes out in theaters Friday, Oct. 2, and then on Oct. 3…”<\/p>\n

Before she can finish her sentence, a cartoon-like cloud of smoke suddenly fills the screen, making Hathaway disappear. Someone from her team can then be heard reacting in confusion to her unexpected exit.<\/p>\n

The video cuts to a series of fake headlines announcing Hathaway’s disappearance, including: “Anne Hathaway disappears,” “As promised, Anne Hathaway vanishes into a plume of smoke,” and “Anne Hathaway simply evaporates.”<\/p>\n

Consider her promise officially fulfilled.<\/p>\n

Hathaway Promised She’d Disappear After Her Fifth Press Tour<\/p>\n

The bit was a callback to a promise Hathaway made just days earlier<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During a Sept. 21 interview with Entertainment Tonight, the actress revealed that she planned to take a break after completing her fifth press tour of the year.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m going to disappear and take some time off,” she said, joking that once Verity\u00a0arrived in theaters, she would “vanish in a plume of smoke” and wouldn’t be seen again until necessary.<\/p>\n

Hathaway is also expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman. She announced her pregnancy in June.<\/p>\n

Five Movies Made 2026 a Very Busy Year<\/p>\n

Hathaway has had an especially packed year on the big screen.<\/p>\n

Before Verity, she appeared in Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odyssey, and The End of Oak Street, giving her five major movie releases in a single year.<\/p>\n

With each project came another round of interviews, premieres, photo calls and red carpets, something Hathaway acknowledged could potentially become a lot for audiences.<\/p>\n

She Worried Audiences Might Get “Sick” of Seeing Her<\/p>\n

Before embarking on her marathon year of promotions<\/a>, Hathaway admitted she had some concerns about being everywhere at once.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s a little bit” of fear that audiences could get tired of seeing her, she said during an Oct. 2 appearance on CBS Mornings.<\/p>\n

“It’s a lot and you want to be able to show up fully for each film,” Hathaway explained. “And that’s asking a lot of people to look at you for a long period of time.”<\/p>\n

Still, she decided to embrace the possibility that the year could turn out better than expected.<\/p>\n

“But then I thought to myself, ‘What if it goes better than you’d imagine?'” she recalled.<\/p>\n

By the looks of it, Hathaway has plenty to celebrate.<\/p>\n
