Syrian terrorists who attempted to infiltrate IDF posts in the Security Zone in separate incidents on Sunday and Monday are suspected of attempting to gather intelligence on the military, Army Radio reported.<\/p>\n

According to Army Radio, the terror suspects were unarmed at the time of their respective infiltration attempts and were gauging the alertness and response tactics of IDF soldiers.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the military said it shot toward and arrested two suspects who approached an IDF post in southern Syria while riding a motorcycle. No Israeli soldiers were injured.<\/p>\n

One of the suspects was shot in the chest and is being treated at a hospital in Safed, with Army Radio noting that he and the second suspect will be taken in for questioning following treatment.<\/p>\n

Also on Monday, the IDF announced that the brigade had shot and killed an additional suspect<\/a> attempting to infiltrate an Israeli military post in the southern Syria Security Zone on Sunday.<\/p>\n

According to KAN News, the suspect was spotted by IDF soldiers<\/a> as he approached the military post between the villages of Hader and Quneitra.<\/p>\n

The suspect was fired upon after failing to comply with IDF<\/a> commands as the soldiers attempted to arrest him, KAN reported.<\/p>\n

Golan Regional Council Head Uri Kelner and Katzrin Local Council Head Yehuda Dua responded to the incidents in southern Syria, calling them “a warning sign that cannot be ignored.”<\/p>\n

“Precisely at a time when there is a sense of calm, we must not be misled or revert to the mindsets that prevailed before October 7,” they said. “Alongside the IDF\u2019s continued presence and operations in the Syrian theater, the State of Israel must continue to strengthen security measures in the Golan communities, Katzrin, and the Druze villages.”<\/p>\n

They pushed Israeli political leaders to commit to strengthening security in the Golan Heights.<\/p>\n

“The security of Katzrin and Golan residents cannot depend on a temporary sense of calm,” they emphasized. “Our residents are entitled to the same level of security that the State of Israel is committed to providing for all its citizens.”<\/p>\n

Earlier on Monday, the IDF announced that its Carmeli Brigade found and destroyed several Assad regime-era weapons during operations in southern Syria<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The weapons included three anti-tank explosive devices and two mines, the IDF announced.<\/p>\n
