On The Daily Show, Jon Stewart<\/a> spoke about how AI had been a \u201cgreat concern lately\u201d and how the biggest AI leaders meeting at the White House seemed to suggest that something important was being done about it.<\/p>\n But instead, the president went against many of his previous statements against tech bros to announce that they would be self-policing their actions.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re tyrants!\u201d Stewart said in response. \u201cI thought you hated these guys?\u201d<\/p>\n He asked \u201chow can you justify letting the tech giants police themselves?\u201d as well as \u201cwhy can\u2019t we just fucking slow this down rather than let people regulate something they have a clear conflict of interest in regulating?\u201d<\/p>\n When asked about the positive impact of AI, many of the key figures said that it would be used for the greater good but Stewart spoke instead about how it\u2019s mostly being used at this moment.<\/p>\n \u201cSo in the future we will use AI to cure diseases but right now it\u2019s mostly murder, surveillance and surge pricing for the McRib,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He added: \u201cI\u2019m getting the sense that you guys might be full of shit\u201d before moving on to the topic of jobs and how they will be affected by the rise of AI.<\/p>\n Many key tech figures have found themselves unable to fully answer how employment will be affected while also suggesting it won\u2019t be a problem. \u201cThey can\u2019t answer the jobs question in a straightforward manner,\u201d he said,<\/p>\n Stewart added: \u201cMy guess is that they\u2019ll still have jobs when this is done\u201d.<\/p>\n He played a clip of Elon Musk claiming that AI will actually lead to a universal high income for us all. \u201cIf we let them do enough unfettered capitalism, we can apparently capitalism our way to socialism,\u201d Stewart said.<\/p>\n But he questioned why that money isn\u2019t coming to us now. \u201cDon\u2019t call us welfare queens, just call us early adopters,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n \u201cStop lying to us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Jimmy Kimmel<\/p>\n
