The Metropolitan Police are not legally capable of blocking a pro-Palestine protest march on October 7, the Metropolitan Police said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The police said they are unable to block the march as there is no risk of serious disorder that would allow the Home Office to block the march.<\/p>\n

The University of London Coalition, a student protest group, has called for students across the capital to take to the streets and “demand an end to the Palestinian genocide.”<\/p>\n

Police have asked protestors to stick to a strict route from Russell Square to Lincoln’s Inn Fields and to complete the rally by 2 p.m.<\/p>\n

Police also issued a ban on face coverings, saying that concealing their identity could lead to arrest.<\/p>\n

Police attempted to make contact with organizers but failed to find anyone willing to accept responsibility for the march.<\/p>\n

Police said they had tried to move the protest to a different day due to concerns over the date\u2019s significance for Jewish students.<\/p>\n

Paris Police, meanwhile, banned a pro-Palestine march planned for October 7. Paris Police Prefect Patrice Faure announced that at the request of Interior Minister Laurent Nu\u00f1ez, he was issuing a ban on demonstrations in the country’s capital on October 7. <\/p>\n

“In a context of heightened terrorist threat and while antisemitic acts remain at a historically high level in our country, such a demonstration on that day poses significant risks of disturbances to public order,” Faure said.<\/p>\n
