FKA Twigs, whose legal name is Tahliah Barnett, has reportedly dropped her most recent lawsuit<\/a> against her ex-boyfriend Shia LaBeouf. The lawsuit, which was filed in March, argued that the nondisclosure agreement Barnett had signed when settling her sexual-assault suit against LaBeouf was illegal under California\u2019s STAND Act. Now, Barnett says her suit has \u201cachieved its purpose\u201d since LaBeouf agreed to void the NDA.<\/p>\n

Barnett first sued LaBeouf in 2020<\/a>, accusing him of\u00a0committing sexual battery, physical assault, and emotional distress during their relationship in the late 2010s. After the suit was filed, LaBeouf apologized for what he described as \u201cabusive\u201d behavior in a public statement but later denied all of Barnett\u2019s claims through his legal team. Barnett and LaBeouf reached a settlement agreement for an undisclosed amount in 2025, which apparently included an NDA.<\/p>\n

According to Barnett\u2019s March lawsuit, LaBeouf had accused her of breaching the terms of the NDA after she gave an interview to the Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in October 2025. When asked about the settlement, Barnett said, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say I feel safe,\u201d adding that she felt \u201creally passionate\u201d about organizations that help survivors. Barnett\u2019s lawsuit argued that LaBeouf \u201chas still refused to admit and agree that the NDA provisions at issue are unlawful and unenforceable under the STAND Act.\u201d (A California law enacted in 2018 in response to the Me Too movement, the STAND Act<\/a> bans the use of confidentiality agreements in settlements of sexual-assault or harassment cases.)<\/p>\n

In a court filing on Tuesday<\/a>, per Billboard, Barnett officially dropped the lawsuit because LaBeouf has agreed that the NDA is \u201cterminated and void.\u201d In the filing, her lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, described this development as \u201can important victory for the principle that women who speak out about sexual abuse should not be silenced by NDAs that contravene California law.\u201d He added, \u201cFKA twigs is proud to be able to continue speaking about her experience and advocating for other women, including those who may lack the resources to speak out and defend themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rosengart told The Cut, \u201cOn the heels of Mr. LaBeouf\u2019s now dismissed, failed December 2025 arbitration against Twigs, in which he sought money from her, this important victory terminating and voiding a prior NDA completely frees her to discuss her experience, advocate for other women who might be less privileged, and freely support the charitable causes of her choice, which she was previously blocked from doing.\u00a0To her great credit, Twigs stood up for something larger than herself, all female survivors of sexual abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement to The Cut, LaBeouf\u2019s lawyer, Shawn Holley, said, \u201cShia wishes Twigs nothing but the best in her life and career and, to that end, has agreed to end their long-standing dispute. Twigs has spoken about this matter for years and there is now nothing to prevent her from continuing to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n
