The report said the postponement aims to allow for a \u201ccomprehensive national dialogue to strengthen Palestinian unity,\u201d preserve the integrity of the \u201cterritory and political system,\u201d and ensure the participation of Palestinians across Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and Gaza, while safeguarding their \u201cpolitical and constitutional rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar on Saturday night described Abbas as a \u201ccorrupt dictator\u201d who has \u201conce again deceived the international community.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis attempt to drag Israel into this, falsely claiming that Israel imposed obstacles to holding elections, is yet another ridiculous lie designed to evade responsibility and accountability,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Sa\u2019ar pointed to other false claims by Abbas regarding reforms that were never implemented, including ending payments to Palestinian terrorists and their families and halting incitement in the Palestinian education system.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor over twenty years, Abbas has been selling the same thing: lies,\u201d said Sa\u2019ar.<\/p>\n
Reuters reported on Friday that Ramallah had decided to postpone the vote, citing an Oct. 8 letter from Palestinian Authority \u201cVice President\u201d Hussein al-Sheikh to French Foreign Minister Jean-No\u00ebl Barrot.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe anticipated political, security and economic conditions\u201d required to hold the elections \u201chave not materialized,\u201d al-Sheikh wrote.<\/p>\n
In response, Sa\u2019ar on Friday noted that the P.A. has not held presidential elections since 2005 or legislative elections since 2006.<\/p>\n

His reform pledges to end \u2018pay-for-slay\u2019 terrorist salaries and hate education remain empty too,\u201d wrote Sa\u2019ar. \u201cThey keep deceiving. Consequences? The November vote would have been the first since January 2006, when Hamas<\/a> defeated Abbas\u2019s Fatah faction.
