National Geographic is going to great depths to show the importance of caring for our oceans.<\/p>\n
“Expedition: Saving Our Seas” is narrated by “Moana” star Auli’i Cravalho. It shows a group of Nat Geo Explorers as they investigate our global Ocean, from the seashore to the sea floor and pole to pole.<\/p>\n
According to the official description, “Combining cutting-edge technology with the knowledge of coastal communities, they chase the discoveries and solutions needed to protect our Oceans at a critical moment.”<\/p>\n
Some of the Explorers featured include Oceanographer Dr. Andrew Thurber, biological oceanographer Dr. Kim Bernard and microbal oceanographer Dr. Allison Fong, who will look at the Southern Ocean.<\/p>\n
Dr. Bernard joins marine ecologist Dr. Leigh Torres and Dr. Anya Brown to examine blue whales and coral in the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n
Deep sea scientist Sheena Talma and her team go 10,000 feet below the Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n
Marine ecologist Maiyai Taal Hocheimy will work with Dr. Angelo Bernardino to look at the dangers of rising seas near the Gambian coastline in the Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n
Marine biogeochemist Dr. Kristina Brown heads to the Arctic Ocean to examine the Inuit community of Gjoa Haven, Nunavut.<\/p>\n
And deep-ocean scientist Dr. Katy Croff Bell, founder of the Ocean Discovery League, will tie all the expeditions together.<\/p>\n
“We’ve only seen about 0.001% of the deep Ocean, which covers about two-thirds of our planet,” says Bell. “Just imagine what we’re going to find in the other 99.999%.”<\/p>\n

“Expedition: Save Our Seas” premieres November 13 on National Geographic and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.<\/p>\n
