Janice Golding reports. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A 29-year-old man is facing charges after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2026\/10\/07\/police-investigating-hate-motivated-offence-after-israeli-flags-set-on-fire-near-church-in-torontos-east-end\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.cp24.com\/local\/toronto\/2026\/10\/07\/police-investigating-hate-motivated-offence-after-israeli-flags-set-on-fire-near-church-in-torontos-east-end\/\">Israeli flags were set on fire near a church<\/a> last Wednesday in Toronto\u2019s east end. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It happened at around 1 a.m. near the Word of Faith International Centre, located near Sunrise Avenue and O\u2019Connor Drive. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police allege the accused removed the flags that were in front of the church, lit them on fire, then fled the area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">No injuries were reported. Police said previously they were investigating this incident as a hate-motivated offence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators identified the accused at a demonstration in downtown Toronto on Saturday afternoon, located near Dundas and Yonge streets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/67105\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tps.ca\/media-centre\/news-releases\/67105\/\">news release issued Tuesday<\/a>, police said they charged Syed Raza, of Toronto.
