{"id":645995,"date":"2026-10-14T09:00:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T09:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/645995\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T09:00:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T09:00:13","slug":"building-under-construction-collapses-in-tel-aviv-none-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/645995\/","title":{"rendered":"Building under construction collapses in Tel Aviv, none injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">A building in southern Tel Aviv that was unoccupied due to renovations partially collapsed on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-903434\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality<\/a> said the building was slated for demolition prior to its unexpected collapse, and instructed residents to stay away from the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">No injuries were reported in the incident on Nahalat Binyamin Street.<\/p>\n<p>Israel\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-911490\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Fire and Rescue Authority<\/a> said it was conducting searches at the site alongside Israel Police and Magen David Adom paramedics to rule out the possibility of additional people being trapped in the rubble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The authority added that the five construction workers inside the building were able to escape the building moments before its collapse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Footage from the scene shows people running from the site as the building came down, sending smoke billowing across the busy Tel Aviv street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Police announced that, due to the collapse, several roads in the area had been closed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The evacuation was carried out after reports there had been an explosion in the building on Serlin Street. When firefighters and rescue workers arrived at the scene, they observed cracks in the building. Some residents who tried to leave their homes said they could not open doors because the building\u2019s infrastructure had shifted, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Following the 2021 incident, the Israel Builders Association warned that as many as 80,000 buildings in Israel, with about 300,000 apartments, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/builders-300000-old-apartments-at-risk-of-collapse-679454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">are in danger of collapsing<\/a> and must be reconstructed in the coming years to avoid calamity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cWe published this in a report that we submitted to the government in 2017, but this is something we have been saying for years,\u201d said the association\u2019s then-deputy director-general Shay Pauzner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThe message is that Israel needs to start thinking strategically about this, because we are in the danger zone.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A building in southern Tel Aviv that was unoccupied due to renovations partially collapsed on Wednesday morning.
