With other hosts still on holiday, Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> checked in on Donald Trump<\/a>\u2019s record-low poll numbers and beleaguered new press secretary<\/a>, Katie Zacharia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are only 19 days away from our president claiming that the elections<\/a> were rigged,\u201d said Kimmel on Thursday evening. \u201cNever mind the fact that he is the one trying to rig them, of course.<\/p>\n

\u201cRepublicans got some very bad tidings from the fake liberal media,\u201d as even the president\u2019s former favorite, Fox News, predicts<\/a> that Democrats will flip the House<\/a> in the midterms.<\/p>\n

The network \u201calso betrayed Daddy\u201d with a new poll<\/a> that said his approval rating is now at 36%, its lowest point ever, while traffic to Trump\u2019s social media site, Truth Social, is down 30% year to year. \u201cHe seems to be the only one who posts to Truth Social,\u201d said Kimmel. \u201cAnd I seem to be the only one who reads those posts on Truth Social. It\u2019s really just the two of us.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon Jr hasn\u2019t posted on Truth Social in two months,\u201d he added. \u201cEven Eric hasn\u2019t posted since July. His own stupid sons have forsaken him!<\/p>\n

\u201cBut people are still showing up by the dozens to see him in person,\u201d the host continued. \u201cTrump has been touring and boring the country all this month, to remind voters what an amazing job he thinks he\u2019s doing, and to castigate the fake news for not turning the cameras around to show the size of his crowds.\u201d<\/p>\n

At one of his rallies on Thursdays, Trump pursued such a point in his usual nonlinear fashion and wondered: \u201cIs the camera like, statutory? Is it like a statue, you cannot move it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStatutory \u2013 it\u2019s a word he learned from his best friend<\/a> Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>,\u201d Kimmel joked.<\/p>\n

In other Trump news, the president announced<\/a> that he would be cancelling Pete Hegseth<\/a>\u2019s plans<\/a> to livestream a military execution by firing squad, because there are \u201cmany very good and well-meaning people would rather not watch him die\u201d.<\/p>\n

The execution of Nidal Hasan, a former army major and psychiatrist who shot and killed 13 people and wounded 32 at Fort Hood in 2009, was set for 3 December. But Trump \u201chad second thoughts after realizing that the man they would be executing is in a wheelchair\u201d, Kimmel explained. \u201cI guess he realized he\u2019d have a hard time selling ads on a live stream of a paralyzed man being executed by firing squad, and what\u2019s the point if he can\u2019t make a little bit of money on it, right?<\/p>\n

\u201cI wonder if he\u2019ll show the same kind of mercy to his new future former press secretary,\u201d Kimmel quipped, referring to Zacharia, Trump\u2019s new press secretary<\/a> whose first<\/a> week<\/a> on the job was less than stellar.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the former fringe network commentator tried to set the record straight on questions about her status as an attorney<\/a>, and \u201cit turns out that Katie Zacharia is an attorney in the same way George Santos was a volleyball champion<\/a>,\u201d Kimmel quipped. Zacharia has yet to confirm when or where she passed the bar exam; the Wall Street Journal reported<\/a> that Zacharia failed the California bar exam after graduating from law school there in 2011.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis press secretary is supposed to be answering questions about his lies, not hers!\u201d Kimmel added. \u201cBut the truth is, he didn\u2019t hire her to be his lawyer. He didn\u2019t really hire her to be his press secretary.
