Who the best shooting guard is in the NBA is officially a non-starter.<\/p>\n

Narrowly receiving the most votes for the highest honor at his position a year ago, Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards edged out the rest of the field, garnering 33% of votes in the 2024-25 NBA league poll, voted on by standing general managers in the NBA.<\/p>\n

However, this upcoming season’s poll was not even close.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Oct. 9, the NBA announced the results of the 2025-26 season poll<\/a>, which saw Edwards garner 70% of votes as the best shooting guard in the league. The next closest vote-getter was Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell with 13% of votes. Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were next, receiving 7% of votes each.<\/p>\n

The growing sentiment favoring Edwards comes on the heels of a transcendent season from Edwards, who became one of the best three-point shooters in the league. Last season, Edwards led the NBA with 320 3-pointers made in 79 games played. Despite the high volume of threes attempted ( a league-high 811), Edwards finished with an impressive 39.5% conversion rate from long range.<\/p>\n

Edwards was also the youngest player in NBA history to eclipse 300 or more 3-pointers in a single season at just 23 years old. His efforts helped lead a Timberwolves team back to the Western Conference Finals despite the franchise moving on from a pillar player in Karl-Anthony Towns, the franchise’s previous record holder for several three-point shooting statistics.<\/p>\n

Minnesota was voted to finish fourth overall in the Western Conference in the league poll behind the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, No. 2 Denver Nuggets and No. 3 Houston Rockets.<\/p>\n
