{"id":649004,"date":"2026-10-17T07:08:12","date_gmt":"2026-10-17T07:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/649004\/"},"modified":"2026-10-17T07:08:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T07:08:12","slug":"it-welcome-to-derry-season-2-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/649004\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;IT: Welcome to Derry&#8221; Season 2 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/depression-era-bank-robbers-hit-derry-season-2.jpg\" data-caption=\"HBO\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"800\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/depression-era-bank-robbers-hit-derry-season-2.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"depression-era-bank-robbers-hit-derry-season-2\"\/><\/a>HBO<\/p>\n<p>Following its renewal order back in August, pre-production is well underway on the second season of HBO\u2019s \u201cIT: Welcome to Derry\u201d series.<\/p>\n<p>Brad Caleb Kane takes over as sole showrunner for the second season run as Jason Fuchs steps back, while \u201cIT\u201d film director Andy Muschietti remains onboard as executive producer and actively involved in the series.<\/p>\n<p>While promoting Peacock\u2019s new \u201cCrystal Lake\u201d series, Kane offered an update to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DEADLINE\/status\/2111273301427544317\" rel=\"nofollow\">Deadline<\/a> on where the new season stands:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re writing the scripts. We\u2019re about halfway through the writing of the scripts. We have a production schedule, we\u2019re greenlit for a Season 2, and Andy Muschietti\u2019s out there casting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The second season takes place in 1935 during the Great Depression and centers on the bloody massacre of the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammo and end up facing unimaginable horror.<\/p>\n<p>The new setting is also going to reveal a new form for Pennywise that hasn\u2019t been seen to date:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a big secret. I think it\u2019s a little bit out there, but it\u2019s 1935, it\u2019s a Warner Bros. gangster movie. It\u2019s bank robbers and Hoovervilles and street urchins riding the rails, religious fundamentalism. And a different kind of Pennywise, Pennywise the way you\u2019ve never seen that character before.
