SpaceX currently has authorization for just 25 Starship launches per year. Starship has never flown more than five times in a calendar year, and the company has completed only three launches so far in 2026. <\/p>\n
The proposal outlines a two-phase expansion. Phase one would allow up to 100 launches and 200 landings annually, with flights around the clock throughout the week. Phase two would raise the ceiling to 456 launches and 912 landings, limited to weekdays. The higher landing allowance reflects the possibility that both Starship’s upper stage and its Super Heavy booster could return to Texas. <\/p>\n
If Starship achieves rapid reusability, each launch could carry 60 Starlink V3 satellites, adding roughly 61 terabits per second of network capacity. At full scale, this could generate billions in recurring annual revenue. <\/p>\n
SpaceX Reports Strong Revenue Growth <\/p>\n
SpaceX reported its first earnings as a public company on August 4, and the numbers were really impressive. Revenue hit $7.8 billion for the second quarter of 2026. That’s a 92% increase from the $4.1 billion reported in the same quarter last year. The company beat Wall Street’s consensus estimate of $6.72 billion by a wide margin. Not just that, Net loss came in at $541 million, an improvement of $467 million from the prior year. Adjusted EBITDA soared 191% to $3.5 billion. <\/p>\n
Free cash flow remained negative at $15.96 billion for the quarter, driven by massive capital expenditures of $18.37 billion, mostly for AI infrastructure. Cash and cash equivalents stood at $93.5 billion. <\/p>\n
CEO Elon Musk said on the earnings call, “We’re making great progress developing a fully and rapidly reusable, reliable rocket with Starship.” Management did not provide formal guidance for the next quarter or fiscal year, which disappointed some investors. <\/p>\n
Analysts currently project third-quarter revenue of $12.9 billion and earnings of $0.11 per share. For the full year 2026, the consensus estimate is $44.6 billion in revenue with $0.07 per share. <\/p>\n
What the Analysts Are Saying About SPCX Stock <\/p>\n
Wall Street is overwhelmingly bullish on SpaceX, though price targets vary wildly. Morgan Stanley’s Adam Jonas reiterated a Buy rating with a $300 price target. He wrote that SpaceX looks “cheap and getting cheaper” when growth is factored in. <\/p>\n
Similarly, Goldman Sachs analyst Eric Sheridan upped his price target on the back of improving expectations for AI capacity and revenue, to $230 from $220. He estimates that at present, the figures for AI are still on the conservative side when compared to the other Wall Street projections. <\/p>\n
Additionally, Raymond James analyst Brian Gesuale has the most bullish stance with a Strong Buy rating and target price of $800. He says there’s a change in the emphasis from the technical feasibility of Starship to its operational scale. <\/p>\n
Overall, the consensus rating on SPCX is “Moderate Buy” with an average price target of $225. That implies roughly 44% upside from the recent levels. <\/p>\n
SpaceX is definitely not a stock for the faint of heart. The plan is ambitious, if not super-ambitious, to be launching 456 at the same time. Unfortunately, this is what investors have been accustomed to from Musk. The payoff if the company can do it could be huge. If not, this one’s no better. <\/p>\n
