Even so, he felt the character was vital to the \u2018Street Fighter\u2019 world and wanted him shown in a way that audiences would enjoy.Jammwal gave the role a fresh perspective and was keen to share Dhalsim\u2019s origins with viewers around the world. Praising the actor, Sakurai said, \u201cHe\u2019s more Dhalsim than Dhalsim, and he owns it, and he\u2019s so proud of it. He\u2019s bringing so much realness and authenticity to it.\u201dThe director\u2019s words show why it mattered to cast someone who could offer both physical credibility and a deeper understanding of the character.<\/p>\n

Sakurai also admitted that adapting Dhalsim came with challenges, since the original portrayal could be viewed through the lens of stereotypes. Rather than leaving the character out, he chose to approach him with more understanding and find the right actor to play him. Explaining his thinking, Sakurai said, \u201cThe character might have started as a sort of stereotype.\u201d<\/p>\n
