Television presenter Davina McCall<\/a> has revealed she has cardiovascular disease<\/a> (CVD) in a fresh health update following her battles with breast cancer<\/a> and a brain tumour.<\/p>\n

The former Big Brother presenter has faced a number of health setbacks in recent years; in 2024, she received brain surgery to remove a rare 14mm benign tumour, <\/a>shortly after which she was diagnosed with breast cancer<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Speaking on her podcast, Begin Again, the TV presenter revealed that she has now been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease \u2013 the name for a group of conditions that affect a person\u2019s heart and blood vessels. <\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to let you know, I also have cardiovascular disease, and this is a very important conversation to have,\u201d she said on the show. <\/p>\n

The 59-year-old spoke with heart attack survivor Louise McGill<\/a> to highlight the vital importance of women\u2019s cardiovascular health<\/a>.<\/p>\n

McCall added: \u201cAnyone can get sick and when I had my cancer experience<\/a>, you just suddenly feel vulnerable in a way you weren\u2019t before\u2026 Once you\u2019ve been ill, you think \u2018Oh, I thought I was invincible.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

McCall noted she was told she had high cholesterol before being diagnosed. She said: \u201cI had high cholesterol and had it for quite a long time. It was deemed I had good cholesterol and that offset the bad or something.\u201d<\/p>\n

McCall urged women not to ignore potential symptoms and ensure they stay proactive about their health.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cHeart attacks and cardiovascular disease is rife out there particular in women post menopause.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf there\u2019s one takeaway today it\u2019s not to brush things off.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NHS states that CVD is often caused by a build-up of fat in the arteries, making it hard for blood to flow through the body. It can be prevented through a healthy lifestyle or medication if required.<\/p>\n

In April, McCall said that she had received the “all clear” following surgery for breast cancer. However, earlier this month, she revealed that she had developed symptoms relating to \u201cadvanced Alzheimer\u2019s\u201d following her brain surgery<\/a>, admitting that the operation had a significant effect on her memory for several months. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe staff came in every day, and they\u2019d go, \u2018What\u2019s my name?\u2019 and I\u2019d go, \u2018I don\u2019t know,\u2019\u201d she said, adding that her husband, hair stylist Michael Douglas, \u201cwould come and visit for two hours, and he\u2019d go to the loo and come back, and I\u2019d go, \u2018Oh my God, you\u2019re here,\u2019 and I didn\u2019t know he\u2019d been there\u201d.<\/p>\n

The presenter made her TV debut on MTV before hosting Big Brother for a decade.
