A Zebra was completely entranced when actress Loren Lott surprised them when she started to sing.

In a TikTok video posted by the actress, she walked up to the habitat and sang a cover of “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” to a group of Zebras. In the video, she went up to greet her “Zebra friend” with the song and watched as one of them came up to her to get a closer listen.

The actress’ friends catured the sweet moment while the Zebra continued to quietly listen to Lott’s singing. She even became emotional over the animal’s “intense eye contact” throughout the performance, and even “invited us to touch her” after the performance.

In the caption, Lott jokingly questioned whether she was “a Disney Princess or Dr Doolittle” based off the Zebra’s surprise reaction to her song. People in the comments also loved the sweet moment between Lott and the Zebra, with users writing, “The zebra found a new bestie 🥹.”

“Out of all my 36 years on earth I’ve never witnessed a zebra whisperer,” one person wrote in the comments. You did that, he thought he was on American idol 🤣.”

Another wrote that Lott could “summon anything with that voice tbh,” while one user added, “This is exactly how we should be connecting with animals. They are more than just an animal. They are another being on this earth who has feelings and can connect with us.”

“Zebras are NOT NICE animals,” one user pointed out. “So this was amazing that it allowed you to touch!”

Are Zebras Considered Friendly Animals?

Zebras are within the same family as horses, but they have very different temperments compared to them.

BBC Wildlife noted that “Zebras are closely related to horses but they’re not the same species.” While they may share some similarities, they are quite different. For example, while it’s common to ride a horse, the outlet reccommends not trying to tame a zebra to ride them in the same way.

“Riding a zebra wouldn’t be practical simply because they’re smaller than horses and unlikely to be able to support the weight of an adult human for an extended period of time without getting injured,” the outlet noted. “Especially as they haven’t been selectively bred for this trait like horses have.”

Unlike horses, Zebras are also known to be “far more aggressive and a lot more dangerous” than their relatives.

“Zebras have been known to kick each other to death,” they continued. “They will viciously bite any human that comes too close, and there are even many accounts of zebras killing lions.”
